Night Sky Photography

A few weeks ago we went out to Red Rock Canyon and I shot these photographs of the night sky! This is a dream come true as I have always wanted to capture the stars in a photograph. :) Daniel helped make this come true by learning with me and coming out on another adventure with me. Grateful for him, the stars, and photography!

Time for something new - (animation title)

Here's a new little animation I made today for a competition.  The video reflects the ideas from a summary of the book.

A quick test

I thought I would let you in on the progress from my new animated film.  As you can see in the test photos below, things are getting pretty close.  The puppets are nearly finished, the story and storyboards are good to go, and the sets are coming along.  In a week or two I will be animating full time on this hairy tale.

Alizalyn had her first day of school on Monday. She has been looking forward to "big girl school" for months. The school colors are royal blue and grey, and she loves her uniform (plus she looks really cute in it!) Her teacher is Mrs Ashely and she is very nice, Alizalyn likes her a lot. Two of her friends from her nursery school are in her class at King Charles Primary School. She goes for a full day, from 9 to 3, and she likes having lunch at school- she has had a jacket potato (baked potato) two days in a row because it is her favorite. We think she will have a great school year!

p.s. sorry I don't know how to make these photos not all over the place...

This is the Place!

Honestly I have no idea what in the world is happening on this blog thing! it is far too confusing and hard to use for me haha!!

But, I thought I'd take a second and fill you all in on my life and what is happening in my life!

So, first of all I moved to Salt Lake City! I got a $27,000/year scholarship to Westminster College and I am there singing now! It is definitely an interesting change, but it is very accepting and pretty fun so far! I am singing in their chamber choir and they made me a section leader which kind of sucks... I guess I don't get to be too lazy anymore. As a choir we are traveling across France for two weeks this coming May!
I am also their lead tenor in the Opera program, so I am playing Fenton in The Merry Wives of Windsor this January!

Another cool thing happened this past weekend as well! Thursday night I got a phone call from a random number which I usually don't answer, but I chose to pick up thinking it was a possible car interest (because I am also selling my car) BUT, it ended up being the Utah Opera Company! They called and offered me a spot in their chorus for the upcoming Opera Tosca. I am so excited to be a part of a professional show and get paid to sing actually! It is very intimidating in rehearsals because I am by far the youngest person there. I think I am the only one under 30! But it has been such an incredible experience and I can't wait to preform at the Capitol Theatre!
These are the scores I am working on! One in English
and the other in Italian!
Do you all remember when we went and saw Wicked! at the Capitol theatre?!!? Well who would have thought just a few years later that I would be preforming in a professional show there??! I hope everyone can come see it!
My very first Porfessional Contract! Check out that Hancock!;)

German Dinner Night

Surprised Dan with a German dinner one night last week.  I made speatzle and a cheese sauce he used to make on his mission (tasted like a glorified roman to me). I also picked up a few things from the German Bakery for us to share.

Vickie the Elephant

Bucket list dreams come true in little ol Hurricane, UT!  Riding a elephant is something I've wanted to do since I was little and mom and dad went to Thailand and told us about there adventures riding elephants. (I think all of us Taylor kids can relate to that desire) It was a fun, painful, hot, amazing experience! :) A memory I soon will not forget.

Opera time!!!

Opera time!!!  Nothing is better than good company, great music and summertime in Logan?
Eric & I had a great time going to 4 different shows and an Opera Competition this past week.   We saw  Man of La Mancha, Carousel, How to Succeed in Business (our new favorite) and La Boheme.  Grandma Chatterton went with us and loved being with us as much as we loved having her.
Eric and I also took some time together and drove over to Bear lake where we played "tourist"  We pulled over to the look out point and took pictures, we drove to the South side of the lake and walked out in the water and enjoyed the warm water, sand between our toes and the sun.  Then we stopped to a fun place that Sarah had suggested and had chocolate covered raspberries!!!!YUM!!!  Then of course, a trip to Bearlake is not complete without a stop to LeBeaus for a Raspberry shake and a corn dog.  I had a great time driving through the Logan canyon and reminiscing over all the great memories I had growing up.  We stopped to Rick's Spring which is a freezing cold natural springs that we used to stop and get a drink out of.  Eric and I both took a little sip of the water as we tried to walk around in it.  Our feet were FREEZING!!!
We enjoyed being with Grandpa and Grandma and just feeling of their goodness.
Alexea joined us a for the last 2 days and Eric & Lexi took a day and went down to Lagoon and had a fun day together.
During the time we were in Logan, Dad was in Heber at an Implant Seminar and then went to the Rodeo with Blake and his family.    Fun week!!!

PDX Sandwich

We've been loving this sandwich that I got as a last minute, grab some food get on the plane, kind of deal.  It was from a place called the Elephant Delicatessen that we went to in Portland and then PDX.  I think I have remade it for us about 10 times now, maybe more.  YUMM!!!

Valley of Fire

A couple of weekends ago Dan and I decided to head out to see the Valley of Fire.  (It's about an hour from our house.)  We chose to go on one of the hottest days of the year and I believe it hit about 115 degrees while we were out there. Whoops! However, it was absolutely beautiful and had the most amazing red rocks and white ones too.  This picture is one we took in the park. Cool huh? If any of you get the chance to go, we say do it!  You'll love it. :)

We spent our 4th of July weekend up in the PNW and being back was amazing!  It was Daniel's first time in Oregon and he loved it!  I'll share more in the newsletter but this is a picture of us from the Pittock Mansion.  Amazing view right?  :)

Hello

Just a quick blog post to make sure this is all working and to say thanks to Sarah for setting this up.  We are all well out here.  Trying to adjust to the new parts of life and figure out how to get work mixed back in (but not too soon, because it is so nice to spend some good time enjoying our little family.)  Love you all and hope to see your adventures posted soon.

Sarah and I got to spend some time on Monday at this pool...it was awesome!  This is the Red Rock Casino Pool and it is only a couple of miles from us.  We got a free pass in the mail and we decided to check it out. Now, usually they only allow hotel guests, but we are trying to find ways to get int and spend our Saturdays there.  The chairs were comfortable and some sat in the water. I will keep you all posted if we make it back!

Stained Glass Window

I think I mentioned in the Newsletter this past month that I was waiting for a stained glass window that Daniel bought me recently.  Well it arrived in the mail yesterday and I love it!  I just had to share. -Sarah

Hello from Mom!

Wow, that is one good looking bunch of people in the pictures Sarah used !! I will start this out by sharing the plans for the next leg of our journey. We are leaving for St George tomorrow as we had planned to go this week so Scott could work for a few days at the I-smiles office. It is also Alexea's Birthday, so we had promised if she brought her grades up and worked really hard, that we would go to SG so she could see her friends there. We were originally planning on coming back on the 7th so Alexea could get her braces off on the 8th. Well as you all know....plans change and we just need to learn to roll with the punches. It ended up where Dad was only going to be working one day, so we were a little discouraged just because it really wasn't going to be worth our time to travel there. But then as we were trying to make summer plans and figure out our move from Gilbert to SG, we got a call from the I-smiles offices and they have Dad booked for 3 days a week for the month of June. So we have decided to load up minimal belongings and stay in SG. We will be renting a small apartment for a few months. This will allow for a few things. 1. We won't have to have Dad traveling back and forth by himself. 2- Lexi can get started practicing with the Pineview Volleyball team. 3- We found a Ballroom dance program in SG and so she will start that immediately. 4. Lexi & I won't be sitting around Gilbert wondering what to do with out summer. We will leave the Gilbert home in showing condition and hope that someone will want to buy it. Then we will return the first of August to get all of our other STUFF!!! If there is one thing I have learned in life, it is that change is constant!!! We have many many decisions still to make about what is ahead for us, but we will be one step closer as we move to SG. Dad will continue to work with I-smiles until he makes a firm decision about where he wants to work. I have once again been offered a sleep job and will be creating a program for 13 offices to incorporate the Sleep Apnea Dental Appliance into their practices. It is a big task, but the challenge will be fun. Dad and I will be working closely together with this and are even going to a Dental Sleep Seminar together in July. Who would have ever thought!!!
Hope you all are looking forward in your lives and making plans that will continue to strengthen your talents and help you find new talents.
The one thing we can all control is Effort!!! Make it a great day!!! Mom

Welcome to Taylor Tale Time

Hey y'all!  I've thought about creating a blog where we all have access to posting for a while now. Daniel and I are really interested in hearing about the stories of your lives.  We wanna be apart of the small things!  So this is a place where any of us can get on and post a quick story or share a picture.  We will still be doing the newsletter since it's a great recap and fun thing to share but feel free to jump on board with us.  We both just really want to continue to strengthen our relationships with y'all and be apart of your lives.
WE LOVE YOU!  Welcome to Taylor Tale Time! :) Sarah
